BACK TO TURTLE ISLAND
BACK TO TURTLE ISLAND
Personal demons have landed Elijah Brooks squarely on a city bench. He's one of those tortured souls that every city spawns, a drunken vagrant whose turbulent past helped create his tormented present. In segmented flashbacks, a young Elijah's already fragile sense of self-identity is placed into a psychological shredder by the violent actions of a drunken father and the racial taunts of neighborhood children.
But a change is on the horizon in the form of a spiritual elder who populates the young man's life like a guardian angel. Through good and bad, he's witnessed this young man's descent into the gutter, and with the wisdom of a sage, he offers Elijah a new path towards self-reclamation. The path he undertakes is an arduous journey of spiritual and personal discovery, characterized by a return to the culture of his ancestors.
