Since Word War I, American Indian have served in theUnited States Armed forces. During the Vietnam War, close to 90% of the 86,000 Indians who enlisted volunteered, giving Native Americans the highest record of service per capita of any ethnic group. Over half served in combat.

Why were so many Native Americans willing to go and fight in America's most controversial war? What is their view ofVietnam twenty years later?

In the program, you will hear Indian veterans discuss their personal experiences inVietnam and the difficulties they still face. "Warriors" is a powerful film: humorous, sincere and unflinching. It serves as a portrait of contemporary Indian people- caught in the cross currents of American history- and finding, in their traditional beliefs, the key to understanding and moving forward.
