JAYNELLE: IT’S NEVER EASY TO ESCAPE
THE PAST
A hard-core ‘real-life’ documentary of one aboriginal young single mother’s
struggles to keep her children and keep her life together. Determined, her
attempts are most admirable, although life deals her futile flows at times.
Sexually abused as an adopted child, she has lived with drugs & alcoholism
– having to steal to eat.
Graphic language illustrated everyday frustrations, yet strong goals keep
her pulling herself up and working towards her dreams. This well-done show
takes us through the ‘nitty gritty’ of daily living: paying bills, moving
from apartment to apartment, struggling within an abusive relationship, proud
moments of job achievements, comfort and disappointment of support people,
etc.
Closing advice from Jaynelle who is still struggling: “I still have my dreams…I
still have confidence to succeed someday…if you need help, accept it.”
