GLOOSCAP
How men and animals were created to live in peace and plenty, and how evil
intervened. Glooscap, chief of good and of power, came to earth together with
his twin Malsum, who had been banished from the heavens for his misdeeds. Glooscap
created the animals, and gave them their names, and prayed that they would live
in peace and harmony. And then he created the Wabanaki, the first Indians. But
his wolf-headed brother, out of jealousy and anger because he could not create
anything, breathed suspicion, fear, and the threat of famine into the world.
Though the world had been created for goodness, evil was here to stay. (26 minutes)
