A New Start 

A fifteen-minute video about the benefits of home and community health care programs in First Nations communities. Today, in many aboriginal communities persons with illnesses or injuries may have to leave families and friends behind to receive treatment in nearby urban centers. This video helps communities take a realistic look at home and community care and determines if it's the right program for them. The video presents basic steps for starting and implementing a home and community care program. Filmed in three aboriginal communities, the video speaks with nurses, home health aides, health administrators and patients about the process of evaluating, consulting, and creating a home care program that will really serve the needs of their people. This video makes aboriginal people aware of a Health Canada initiative which, provided they meet the criterion, will assist them with the development of a home and community care program The video is designed for aboriginal and non-aboriginal health professionals, community health administrators and individuals seeking information about improving the health services in their area.
